Have a heart for Northwest Africa?  Want to practice your French skills and serve on a mission trip?
Join Mrs. Treesh, Dr. Fults and Walking Tree Travel/Smithsonian Student Adventures on a once in a lifetime mission trip to Dakar, Senegal.  Once there you’ll serve the locals through education, ministry, and hard work…all while using your knowledge of French.  (You do not need to have a background in French to take part in this adventure, but you do need to have the desire to get involved.)
Work alongside the staff of the Smithsonian Institute and become active in the world around you as you learn about the people and culture in Dakar, Senegal.  In addition to serving extensively in a local community, the trip will end with a safari in northern Senegal.
Program Highlights:
  • Immerse yourself in Senegal’s unique blend of cultures.
  • Participate in meaningful, collaborative service work.
  • Experience terranga, a Wolof word meaning “hospitality.”
  • Practice your French language skills with local families and community members.
  • Learn about the Atlantic slave trade and visit Goree Island.
  • Embark on a safari in one of Senegal’s best game parks.
  • Swim on the Atlantic Coast in Mbour.
